Imagenation Corporation Announces Economical
New PCI Frame Grabber for CCIR Video
Square pixels maximize resolution in OEM-based machine vision applications
Beaverton, Ore., May 13, 1997 -- Imagenation Corporation, a leading producer of image processing devices for U.S. and European markets, today announced the introduction of its new PX510 Precision Frame Grabber, developed to support full resolution CCIR and RS-170 video formats. The PX510 offers precise video capture with PCI-bus compatibility in either a compact, short card configuration or PC/104-Plus core module for embedded systems. Its feature set rivals that of much more expensive products, including high gray-scale accuracy, low pixel jitter, compatibility with resettable cameras, and four multiplexed video inputs.
The PX510 is targeted at a wide range of OEM-based industrial and commercial applications. It offers all the features of its predecessor, Imagenation's popular PX500, with several enhancements. These include maximum capture resolution of 768 x 576 for CCIR video, dual strobe output for resettable cameras, a +12 VDC camera supply, and horizontal and vertical drive to gen-lock with a CCD camera.
"We are particularly excited about the new range of frame grabbers from Imagenation providing square pixels for the CCIR video standard. Frame grabbers designed for CCIR give us the benefits of maximizing resolution, maintaining aspect ratio and simplifying calibration," said
Alistair Washbourn, Technical Marketing Manager, Optimas UK. "This combined with the product's high quality and reasonable price makes it ideal for OEM based machine vision applications."
The PX510's simple software interface, well documented software libraries and demo programs allow developers to get the board up and running quickly. Comprehensive support is included for standard languages such as C/C++ and Visual Basic. A separate VESAMENU enables menu-based user interfaces to be developed easily, with sample source code included.
Imagenation also plans to offer the PX510 in a CompactPCI format for embedded systems beginning in July 1997.
PX510 Features
- PCI bus master design for real-time image capture to system memory
- Square pixel images for CCIR/PAL and RS-170/NTSC video formats
- Resettable camera support with high precision digital synchronization
- Four multiplexed video inputs with automatic video format detection
- Vertical and horizontal cropping and scaling to minimize memory and bus bandwidth requirements
- Continuous, software-initiated and triggered capture of frames
- External trigger input and dual strobe output
- Software support for DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows NT applications
PX510 Specifications
Applications
Due to its high gray scale accuracy and compatibility with resettable cameras, the PX510 is particularly well suited to the most demanding applications in manufacturing automation, quality assurance, traffic control, medical and scientific instrumentation, and biometrics. Examples include semiconductor wafer alignment, circuit board inspection, medical ultrasound imaging, contour mapping of the eye, and automated facial recognition to name a few.
