Imagenation Corporation Announces Most Affordable Color Frame Grabber for PCI Bus Applications

PXC200 delivers robust set of features found in much higher priced products

Beaverton, Ore., June 2, 1997 -- Imagenation Corporation announced today that its new PXC200 color frame grabber for machine vision applications will be available in June 1997. The PXC200 is the first product to offer high quality color and monochrome video capture with a PCI bus interface for under $400. Features such as multiplexed video inputs, triggered frame grabs, real time image scaling and a +12 VDC camera supply enable the PXC200 to compete favorably with products selling for up to 50% more than this latest addition to Imagenation's frame grabber family.

With its sophisticated feature set, the PXC200 is aimed primarily at industrial and commercial machine vision applications. The PXC200's simple software interface, well documented software libraries and demo programs allow developers to get the PXC200 up and running quickly. The product will also soon be available in PC/104-Plus and CompactPCI formats for applications that require an embedded solution.

"This new low price point will help stimulate the high-volume application of machine vision technology in the security, traffic control, manufacturing automation, medical/scientific and related markets," said George Fabel, Imagenation's president. "Leading-edge multimedia and Internet-focused products can also benefit from real-time video capture and display. So the PXC200 with its unusually affordable price presents a truly outstanding opportunity."

The PXC200 can accept color video from NTSC, PAL, SECAM and S-video sources. Color formats supported include YCrCb and RGB; Y8 is supported for monochrome applications. Real time image scaling using pixel interpolation as well as horizontal and vertical cropping are all part of the base product.

An optional control package extends the PXC200's competitive advantage even more by including eight general purpose I/Os that can be programmed as four separate triggers and four strobes. Also included are vertical and horizontal drive, strobe inhibit during CCD transfer time, and a fourth video input. "When equipped with this special control package, the feature set of the PXC200 is comparable to PCI frame grabbers selling for twice the price," Fabel said. The package is available with the standard product for an additional $100.
